This is one of the most hilarious news i’ve heard in a while….and when i related it to my office buddies an orgy of laughter ensued…..
A small Chinese firm called Beijing ‘Guge’ Science and Technology Co has sued Google and wants it to change the name of its Chinese operations because people invariably call up its office thinking it to be that of Google’s. The company says this is very distruptive for its day-to-day working and wastes a lot of time.
Google changed the name of its Chinese operations to “Gu Ge” which means Harvesting Song in Chinese in 2006 to increase its appeal in the country.
I have to say that i agree with Bejing ‘Guge’ in principle, and admire its adaucity at the same time. It good to see David take on Goliath after while, certainly keeps everyone on their toes. But in China’s sckewed justice system, how much of a chance does a minnow stand?…Even though i am absolutely sure that Google is beyond practicing bibery or underhanded deals.
Well all i can say is may the best man win!
